Hi, I'm Jasper

A math tutor from Collingwood Park.

My Teaching Philosophy

About me

My aim as a tutor is certainly to create in my students a deep recognition and self-confidence when answering assessment questions and being able to deal with new concerns. The base of my viewpoint is the concept that learning takes place in an environment of reciprocal recognition where the scholar is encouraged to think and establish relationships on their own. According to my sensation personal lesson has a special value to scholars due to the option to break down the children' personal barriers to learning in a manner that sets the roots for a lasting and thorough perception of the subject.

Analytic thinking

My approach differs depending on the child's learning style and needs. However, the base of my teaching approach is stimulating students to think on their own, applying real-world examples whenever they can. |To my mind it is very important to provide students with a working knowledge and to practice problem-solving skill sets for development upon this knowledge. Tutoring anyone to think analytically is at the core of the things a student should really take away off any subject training.

The most important contribution

The most enduring improvements a tutor are able to do is training scholars, and it is a process, which I consider to be interesting and rewarding. From my practice, I discovered the effect of involving students by using patterns and of delivering content at a level that assumes perception and yet not necessarily knowledge, mixing the known with the unknown as a combination which provides the child the feeling of possibility rather than that one of impossibility that formal and impressive approaches may lay down.

Using a lot of practising

I begin with topics the children are familiar with and step little by little to more complicated fields seeing that their peace of mind is being built. I put to use questions and examples to monitor perceiving constantly. I don't ever lecture to students or tell them to remember things. Neither do I carry out the learners' home tasks for them!

I mainly focus on test-style as well as past paper questions to inspect, work at and develop the scholar's recognising and capacity. I even give a lot of emphasis to some of the not so evident but vital skill sets for instance, essay technique and structure, logical thought, and the good use of numbers and graphs.
